Catalogue Note
First edition. Grew and his Italian contemporary Malpighi, were pioneers in the field of microscopic botany who founded the science of plant anatomy. Part I describes the structure of different plant stems from herbs to hardwoods, followed by detailed accounts of bark, wood, and pith. Part II discusses movement of sap and air in the stem, the structure of their vessels, and the origin of sap—all important in successful grafting.
