Five parts in one volume, folio (10 1/2 x 7 in.; 267 x178 mm). Engraved title-page by B. Dolendo, with the cartouche surmounted by the Queen's arms and Tudor rose emblem and flanked by two female angels, a view of Dordrecht in the lower register, 34-page index to remedies asnd treatments, errata on final leaf 2K6; title-page just shaved along fore-edge, light browning throughout, paper flaw causing minor loss to lower outer corner of L5. Contemporary vellum, yapp edges, manuscript titling on spine; stained and worn, with spine sprung.

First and only edition in English of Gabelkover's Artzneybuch, first published at Tübingen in 1595. Largely a home medical guide, the first part covers disease and illness in general, Part II deals with the maladies of women and young children, Part III with all manner of fevers including the plague, Part IV with the treatment of burns and wounds, and Part V with the making of plasters, salves, and powders.
