Some early marginalia with astrological symbols.; occasional browning and staining, minor fraying to fore-edge of title page, insignificant worming to interior margins, small tear to fore-edges of K3-4. Brown morocco, in morocco-backed slipcase.

First issue of the first English edition. Dedicated to Catherine de Medici, who was at that time most desirous of producing royal heirs. She was an enthusiastic devotee of astrology, and subsequently summoned Ferrier to court to act as her chief physician.
