Condition

Very good condition overall with some surface dirt to the crevices and wear to the patina consistente with age and handling. Very minor scratches at several places. Neptune's proper left arm cast separately with a joint and a pin visible, slighlty loose.

Catalogue Note

La composition dynamique en spirale du Neptune en fait le modèle le plus résolument baroque de la série des huit divinités par Michel Anguier. Elle est ouvertement inspirée du groupe de Neptune et Triton de Gianlorenzo Bernini (Victoria & Albert Museum, inv. n° A.18:1-1950).
