  • en argent et vermeil repoussés et gravés, la polychromie probablement postérieure; sur une base en cuivre doré et gravé, ornée de plaques en émail cloisonné du XIXe siècle
  • 23 x 24 x 21 cm; 9 by 9 1/2 by 8 1/3 in.
le Saint représenté en buste, vêtu de la chasuble fermée par un mors orfévré et émaillé aux armes de la famille Beauteville d'azur à trois coquilles d'or, surmontées d'un lambel

Condition

The silver repoussé reliquary bust made in two attached elements: shoulders and head. The bishop's hat missing. His hair, beard and collar with probably original gilding, whereas polychrome paint probably later, with some wear consistent with age and handling. Silver stamps visible to both shoulders. The shoulders with remains of red and blue paint. The enamel broche possibely later. The 19th century gilt copper and champlevé enamels base with some wear to the gilding.

Catalogue Note

Il s'agit d'une copie du buste reliquaire toujours en place à l'église de la Purification, à Sainte Polycarpe (Languedoc Roussillon) qui avait figuré à l'exposition de 1935 (Le chef Exposition des Arts religieux Audois, n° 151) et de 1954 (Trésor d'orfèvrerie des églises du Roussillon et du Languedoc méditerranéen, église Saint-Nazaire, Carcassonne, n° 68).
