Catalogue Note

Buffalo Bill's Wild West and Congress of Rough Riders of the World visited Arbroath on the 22nd August 1904 as part of a Scottish tour consisting of twenty nine shows. Although the present work was painted three years later, the artist records the scene no doubt much as it appeared at the time. Cody is the portly figure on the left of the picture, moustached and bearded, wearing a Stetson hat and frock coat. A similar work was sold in these rooms 28 August 2002, lot 1063.
