  • Height of brass compass 7 in., with stand 61 1/2 in. by Length 16 3/4 in. by Depth 6 7/8 in.; The mahogany compass Height 6 in. by Length 15 in. by Depth 6 in.
Inscribed C. Lincoln, London. Together with a rare mahogany and paper surveyor's compass, Edward Prince Banks and William H. H. Hatch, Portland, Maine, circa 1837-1857, inscribed Banks & Hatch, Portland, inscribed on a label attached to the mahogany one, Owned and used by Irvin Thrasher. / Cape Elizabeth / last used April 1966 to lay out Pickell Street, from Fort Preble to Ferry Village [Maine]. / Tripod Compass Chain. 2 pieces.

Condition

The tripod base appears to retain its original surface, as does the carrying box, with brass cap in pine carrying box, otherwise as illustrated; the mahogany compass without accouterments, with two cracks to glass face.
