A tomb inset with printed reserves inscribed, THY LOSS EVER SHALL WE MOURN and SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF THE ILLUSTRIOUS WASHINGTON, stamped American eagle grasping an olive vine in its talons, the whole within an eglomisé border inscribed: AMERICA AT THE TOMB OF WASHINGTON.

Condition

Some of the black painted glass has started to exfoliate and have been consolidated. Scratches in painted sky. Some losses and shredding of the silk in the woman's face. The soldiers face has darkened as pigments have darkened in the paint. Some staining. Frame has age but has been cut down and re-gilded.
