Catalogue Note

The colleges of Oxford had their own cellars from the the seventeenth century onward, but they only began to produce sealed wine bottles in the 1760s. The All Souls Common Room bottles were produced from the 1760s to the 1840s and the college still retain the largest collection of sealed wine bottles of any institution.
