  • With frame 21 1/2 in. by 24 1/2 in.
Depicting Esther pleading with King Ahasuerus, worked in French knot, satin, couching and other stitches, with a Sotheby's Parke Bernet label inscribed lot 327, now in a later walnut frame.

Condition

Overall in good condition with some losses to stitching, especially at faces. Silk foundation is in good condition with only some minor tears at creases and losses to weft. Oxidation to dark browns and blacks resulting in losses of silk thread. Colors are generally retained. Please note that the pieces has not been examined out of frame. Frame with age cracks, chips, and losses to corners. A fine example with a wide variety of stitches showing the virtuosity of the embroiderer.
