Shards matching the sprigged decoration and the distinctive upright flower knop have been excavated at Thomas Whieldon's Fenton Vivian factory site. See Pat Halfpenny, "Thomas Whieldon: his life and work", English Ceramic Circle Transactions, Vol. 16, part 2, 1997, pp. 247-248, figs. 14 and 16. Sprigged rosettes of this type are also found on a creamware jug initialled RH and dated 1757, illustrated ibid, p. 244, pl. 10. A teapot of this type was in the Collection of Jim and Nancy Dine, sold in these rooms, October 20, 1997, lot 44. Another, from the Harriet Carlton Goldweitz Collection, was sold in these rooms, January 20, 2006, lot 112.
