The first with a bust-length portrait of Frederick II of Prussia and on the other sides with various armorial or martial devices, the second by William Greatbatch, molded on each side with a Chinoiserie figure.

Provenance

The Greatbatch canister: Sotheby Parke Bernet, Inc., New York, Property of Mr. Gary J. Cheval, April 22, 1981, lot 44.

Condition

The King of Prussia canister: two extremely minor pinhead chips to the rim. The Greatbatch canister: an approximate 3/4-in. section of the rim and neck is broken away.

A William Greatbatch hexagonal teapot, with an identically molded border and Chinoiserie panels, was in the Harriet Carlton Goldweitz Collection, sold in these rooms, January 20, 2006, lot 143.
