Catalogue Note

Given the date of purchase, it is possible this tie pin was among the objects taken by Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna on her visit to England for the coronation on 22 June of her nephew, King George V, a journey which the Emperor was unable to undertake owing to the poor health of his wife.
