Condition

Original canvas on its original stretcher. There are frame abrasions along all four edges. There is a surface abrasion with minor associated paint loss in the orange skirt of the standing woman on the left. In the grass in the lower right quadrant are areas of paint shrinkage. There is a layer of surface dirt with spots of dirt in places. Inspection under UV light reveals a couple of tiny spots of retouching below the signature and in the sky on the far left. Held a in gilt wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.

According to the German inscription on the stretcher, the present work was twice given as a wedding present within the same family, first in 1938 and later in 1967.
