Condition

The canvas had been re-lined. There are frame abrasions with associated paint loss along all four edges. There is craquelure throughout the composition, which appears stable at present. There is a layer of surface dirt with spots in places. Inspection under UV light reveals retouching to the deep cracks throughout the composition. Held in a gilt wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
