Condition

The support is sound. There is a layer of surface dirt and the varnish layer is uneven. Media staining is visible in the top, horizontal aperture and accretions of dirt have built up in the impasto. There are light scratches to the surface in places and an area of paint shrinkage in the blue in the right, vertical aperture. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent signs of retouching. The work is held in a painted wooden frame which is part of the composition, a strip of wood is missing from the lower length of the frame and the unpainted edge is exposed.
