modelled as a pair of conjoined waterpots, one of ovoid form and carved in low relief with a kui dragon with a sinuous body soaring above tempestuous waves, the other with sloping sides tapering towards an incurved rim, the rim encircled with a band of 'horse-hoof' motifs, the clear rock crystal with cloudy inclusions skilfully carved to concentrate around the ovoid vessel, wood stand
Condition
There are minute nicks to the edges, especially the inner mouths. Other general surface wear.

Rock crystal was used as a medium for high quality ornamentation produced at the Imperial Palace Workshops in the 18th century, especially during the Qianlong period.
