Catalogue Note

A rare concert poster featuring the Chuck Berry trio and "Bittersweet" Buddy Johnson headlining. Advertising a concert and dance at Memorial Auditorium, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, this poster dates from 1955 — the year Chuck Berry altered the course of American music by recording and releasing one of the first rock and roll songs, "Maybellene." The concert featured additional performances by the Nutmegs, 4 Fellows, Arthur Prysock, Al Savage, the Spaniels, Ella Johnson, with "The Queen of Quiver and Shake" Queenie Owens.
