The illustration is accurate, good overall condition despite the inevitable dents, scratches and marks due to the age and use The gilding is slightly tarnished. Please note that this condition report was made on August 31th 2016 inside Robert de Balkany's hôtel rue de Varenne; this lot will be shipped to Sotheby's galleries before the exhibit and the sale.

Les bronziers Bouhon Frères se spécialisèrent dans la réalisation d'accessoires de cheminée, s'inspirant souvent de modèles du XVIIIe ou du début du XIXe siècle, et participèrent aux Expositions Universelles de 1878 et 1900. Le fonds de leur manufacture fut dispersé à l'occasion de deux ventes, en octobre et novembre 1920.
