le mouvement de disposition horizontale porté sur quatre colonnes polies montées sur deux doubles plinthes rectangulaires en bronze doré, cadrans annulaires argentées, chiffres romains pour les heures, arabes pour les secondes, corps de rouage à trois roues, deux barillets, échappement à chevilles en acier, balancier compensé d’une demi seconde battant la seconde, suspension à ressort, plaque d’amplitude, mouvement en laiton doré, en partie matte, en partie pointillé ; cage rectangulaire en laiton doré entièrement vitrée
Condition
The illustration is accurate, good overall condition despite the inevitable dents, scratches and marks due to the age and use. Silvered dials are rather tarnished.
The movement, with pin wheel escapement, is complete but needs a clean and we do not guarantee the working order of the mecanism. It comes with a rewind key.

Catalogue Note
Emile Thomas, un élève d’Antoine Redier, établit son commerce d’horlogerie au 10 rue de la Boétie en 1854, où il incorpore la maison de Redier en 1878. Thomas est proche du contre-amiral Fleuriais, qui le pousse à présenter ses produits aux services de la Marine et de l’Observatoire de Paris. C’est peut-être pour cette raison que Thomas se décrit ‘Horloger de la Marine d’Etat et de l’Observatoire’ malgré le fait qu’il ne semble jamais avoir officiellement reçu ce statut. Thomas cède son affaire à Jules Auricoste en 1889.
