Condition
The illustration is accurate, good overall condition despite the inevitable dents, scratches and marks due to the age and use.
Gilding is sligtlly tarnished a few losses to the ebony and brass moulding on the upper part, comes with a pendulum and a key the movemement looks complete but we do not guarantee the working order.
Please note that this condition report was made on August 31th 2016 inside Robert de Balkany's hôtel rue de Varenne; this lot will be shipped to Sotheby's galleries before the exhibit and the sale

Catalogue Note
C'est le plus riche modèle de pendules aux Parques par Boulle qui est reproduit ici : à gauche, Clotho tenant le fuseau et déroulant le fil que tire Lachesis (juchée sur le cadran), cependant qu’à droite d’Atropos (plus âgée et coiffée d’un voile) s’apprête à le couper. Pour cette ambitieuse composition, Boulle avait utilisé des figures de Nicolas Coustou (1658-1733). Dans l’acte de Délaissement de 1715, le modèle est ainsi décrit : une boîte de pendules à Parques du modèle de M. Coustou dont les figures ne sont point réparées. L’estimation importante (400 livres) concerne de toute évidence un modèle aux qualités sculpturales puissantes, alors que l’autre modèle connu de pendule aux Parques (représenté par exemple par le cartel du Louvre, donation Fabre) comporte des figures en bas-relief.
