Catalogue Note

Les armes sont celles des vicomtes Howe, probablement pour Richard, 4ème baron Howe (1726-1799). Au cours de sa brillante carrière navale, il fut créé vicomte Howe of Langar en 1782 puis comte Howe et baron Howe of Langar en 1788. Il épousa en 1758 Mary, fille de Chiverton Hartopp of Welby, du Leistershire et mourut sans descendance le 5 août 1799. Un monument en marbre à son effigie fut commandé à John Flaxman et installé dans la cathédrale Saint Paul.
