Condition

To the naked eye: The painting appears on moderately satisfactory condition. It has been relined, a little bit more than 50 years ago, a little bit too strong and the pictorial matter has been flattened a little bit. The painting has a light primer so we can notice the canvas’ weft. We notice a restored horizontal tear of circa 40 cm. long crossing the dog’s body. The painting has been correctly formerly cleaned but has left traces of old varnish. We notice a vertical tear of 3 cm. high, below the dog’s head. Under U.V. light: The painting appears under a green uniform varnish. We notice the tear already mentioned on the dog’s body, two restorations below its head and several repaints on the background.
