Condition

The illustration is quite accurat, good overall conditions despite the inevitable scratches, dents, marks and use due to the age and use. “Please note that this condition report was made on August 31th 2016 inside Robert de Balkany's hôtel rue de Varenne; this lot will be shipped to Sotheby's galleries before the exhibit and the sale.”

Le modèle de ces flambeaux apparaît sur un dessin aquarellé de Dugourc, daté de 1790, où il est également indiqué que Gouthière les a réalisés (reproduit dans H. Ottomeyer, P. Proschel et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, p. 286-287, fig. 4.15.3 et fig. 4.15.6).
