Condition
Dial has very minor hairline crack near XII, chips to winding holes and some minor scratches. Movement is complete but very dirty and needs complete service and overhaul.Case has been cleaned and there are traces of wear to the gilding but generally good, minor edge chips to marble.

Une pendule identique signée Galle/ rue Vivienne à Paris est illustrée dans H. Ottomeyer, P. Proschel et al., Vergoldete Bronzen (Munich, 1986, p. 366, fig. 5.13.3), une autre s'est vendue à Paris, étude Kohn, le 23 juin 2014, lot 31. Un exemplaire entièrement en bronze doré est conservé au palais de Monplaisir à Pétrodvorets (ill. in A. Chenevière, Splendeurs du Mobilier Russe 1780-1840, Paris, p. 188, fig. 193). Enfin, un modèle similaire appartient aux collections du Mobilier National : il fut livré par Lepaute au Petit Trianon en 1805, puis placé à Rambouillet de 1806 à 1832 avant de servir au palais de l'Elysée, puis au Ministère des Finances (cf. M. F. Dupuy-Baylet, Pendules du Mobilier National 1800-1870, Dijon, 2006, n° 47, pp. 110-112).
