Description

  • Richard Avedon
  • Nastassja Kinski and the Serpent, Los Angeles, California
  • Gelatin silver print
oversized, mounted, signed and editioned '31/200' in pencil on the mount, the photographer's title, copyright, and edition/printing information stamps on the reverse, framed, 1981, printed in 1982 (Evidence, p. 162, color variant)

Condition

This impressive, large print is in generally very good to excellent condition. It is on semi-glossy paper and trimmed to the image. In raking light, several deposits of original retouching are visible overall, as are a few very faint scratches. There are 2 short, faint scratches in the upper right quadrant, which are only visible upon very close examination. The edition number is ever so slightly smudged. Faint, scattered foxing and smudges from handling are visible on the mount, primarily along the edges and corners. At the edges of the mount, there are six small areas of adhesive remains with associated abrasions to the upper paper-ply. These are not visible when viewing the print framed, and do not detract from the overall fine appearance of this photograph. There is light foxing and soiling overall on the reverse of the mount.
