Description

  • André Kertész
  • 'Chez Mondrian, Paris'
  • gelatin silver print
signed, titled, and dated in pencil on the reverse, 1926, printed later (Of Paris and New York, pl. 22)

Condition

This photograph, printed with thin margins on double-weight paper with a slight surface sheen, is in generally very good condition. Under raking light, the following are visible: silvering along the perimeter of the image; a 1/4-inch linear impression near the center of the upper edge of the image; and some scattered deposits of indeterminate nature, possibly original retouching. The upper and lower edges of the print are faintly rippled and, because the margins are thin, this extends slightly into the image. The margin corners are gently bumped.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report.
