Description

  • Edward Weston
  • Columbia River, Oregon
  • gelatin silver print
mounted, initialed and dated in pencil on the mount, numbered 'O-CR-5G' and dated in pencil on the reverse, 1939, possibly printed in the 1940s

Condition

This slightly warm-toned print is in generally very good condition. The highlights appear somewhat yellowed. There is minor silvering at the perimeter of the image. Scattered, faint impressions are visible under raking light overall. This photograph is mounted to thin, off-white card, which is somewhat age-darkened. On the reverse, 'CEB89-0430,' and 'K-5' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil. There are a few scattered marks and scuffs on the reverse of the mount. Although this image is not listed in Amy Conger's catalogue of Edward Weston's photographs in the collection of the Center for Creative Photography, the CCP has positively confirmed the present image's date and location.
