a plate from Fiftieth Anniversary Portfolio (Carmel, California, 1951), mounted, initialed and dated by the photographer in pencil on the mount, the portfolio stamp and plate number '5' in pencil on the reverse, 1936, printed in 1951 by Brett Weston from the negative by Edward Weston under the latter's supervision, one from an edition of 100 (Conger 968)

Condition

This photograph is in generally excellent condition. There is subtle age-appropriate silvering in the darkest areas of the print, primarily at the periphery. In high raking light, a small, very faint indentation is visible near the sitter's foot in the central portion of the image. This does not appear to break the emulsion and may have occurred during mounting. The mount is slightly age-darkened along the periphery on the front and reverse. There is light soiling and foxing across the front of the mount. There is a rounded impression at the upper right mount corner, and each corner is very gently bumped.
