Condition

This print is in generally excellent condition. In raking light, the following are visible: tiny impressions and deposits of expertly applied retouching, mainly in the upper right quadrant; and a few small raised areas, possibly particles or air trapped between the print and the mount. There are 2 areas of adhesive residue and associated discoloration at the upper edge of the mount. The reverse of the mount is affixed to the overmat with 2 pieces of linen tape at the upper edge, and there is some adhesive residue next to the tape. The reverse of the mount is lightly soiled. There is a Sarah Jeanne Adams collection stamp on the reverse, under the Carmel studio stamp. Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. Our dating of this print is based upon the authors' assessment of the use dates of stamp 11 on the reverse of the mount: 1973 through 1977.
