Description

  • Helmut Newton
  • Mannequins, Quai d'Orsay
  • Gelatin silver print
oversized, ferrotyped, signed, dated, and annotated in ink and with the photographer's 'Paris' copyright stamp on the reverse, framed, 1977 (Taschen, unpaginated)

Condition

This oversized, ferrotyped, slightly warm-toned photograph on double-weight paper, is in generally very good condition. As is typical of ferrotyped prints, pitting and an unevenness of the glossy surface are visible. Occasional faint scratches are also visible under raking light, including a long, approximately 6-inch scratch in the upper right quadrant. There are a few smudges, matte areas, and foxing in the margins. The margin corners and edges are gently bumped. The reverse of the print is hinged to the mat along the upper edge. There are tape remnants at the perimeter on the reverse. 'Tirage' is written in blue pencil in an unidentified hand. The reverse is unevenly yellowed and there is an approximately 5-inch light brown discoloration in the lower right.
