  • 'Two Men in White Masks, Cuzco, Peru'
  • gelatin silver print
selenium-toned, mounted, signed, titled, dated, and annotated in ink and stamped on the reverse, framed, 1948, printed in 1984, one from an edition of no more than 20 gelatin silver prints (MoMA, pl. 61)

Provenance

Pace/MacGill Gallery, New York, 1990

Condition

This selenium-toned print is in generally excellent condition. Upon very close examination in high raking light, a 1/4-inch linear surface scratch which appears to break the emulsion is visible in the upper right quadrant. On the reverse of the mount, the Condé Nast copyright stamp is dated '1960' and annotated 'COURTESY OF VOGUE' in ink. The edition stamp indicates that there are no more than 20 signed gelatin silver prints of this image. Other stamps are as follows: 'REF' with '13169' in ink and 'Toned in Selenium.' The following notations are also written on the reverse of the mount: 'print made 1984' and 'RIVES BFK MOUNT' in ink; and 'JF' in pencil.
