Condition

This print is in generally excellent condition. In raking light, the following are visible: a 3/8-inch soft impression in the upper left quadrant, and a soft crease in the upper right quadrant, above the sitter's arm. The thin margin corners are very subtly creased. On the reverse, the Condé Nast copyright stamp is dated '1999' in pencil The edition stamp indicates that there are no more than 20 signed gelatin silver prints of this image, and is initialed in pencil. Other stamps are as follows: 'REF.' with '18952' in pencil; 'Toned in Selenium'; and 'Irving Penn.' The following notations are also on the reverse in pencil: 'print made Nov. 1999,' 'F-868', and 'PDH.' There are adhesive remnants on the reverse at each of the corners.
