Condition
Both canvases are unlined, the paint surfaces are relatively clean and the varnishes are clear and even. There are some faint lines, possibly from folds in the canvases, which are visible running vertically the length of the canvases either side of the centre, and horizontally across the centre. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals retouching throughout both paintings, most notably to the lower edges and corners, and to the aforementioned lines. The former painting has some restoration to two scratches, each c. 7 cm. long, in the face. The dark greens in the foliage of both paintings also have some strengthening. The pair is in overall good condition.
