Condition

The canvas is lined and the paint surface is secure and stable. On inspection under UV light there are retouchings visible in the white tones of the sitters stockings and in the paper of the manuscript on the table. There are further retouchings through some of the darker tones of the central and lower sections of the floor, the sitters breaches and in the tail of his coat. There are only very few finely executed retouchings in the sitters face, and the beautiful embroidery of his coat remains untouched. In fair overall condition. Offered in a gilt wood frame in good condition.
