modelled by J.J. Kändler as a gentleman and lady, each seated holding a large pierced basket on their lap, his coat and her apron painted in complementing indianische Blumen, upon rockwork mound bases applied with flowers and leaves, crossed swords mark or traces of crossed swords mark to rear of bases,

Condition

The male figure, minute chips to left shirt cuff, chips to flower on hat, extended firing crack to right thigh; The female figure, right fingers and left smallest finger repaired, right handle of basket lacking, minute chip to tip of right shoe.

Kändler's Taxa or work record of 1743 includes: '1. Gärtner sizend, einen Bluhmen-Korb vor sich haltend, darein Bluhmen gesezet werden können, als Compagnon zur Gärtnerin', [1 seated gardener, holding a flower basket in front of him in which flowers can be put, as companion to the female gardener]. Examples of these models also exist with fixed porcelain flowers.
