Description

  • framed: the larger: 32cm. high, 26cm. wide; 1ft. ½in., 10¼in.: the smaller: 30cm. high, 25.5cm. wide; 1ft., 10in.
one depicting a scene from Canto XVI of Gerusalemme Liberata with a jousting knight and the inscription `verso Grifon le aperte braccia tende; L oftringealcollo, egran pezzone pende' and the reverse with the an ink inscribed paper label,  `Elle tend vern Grifon en bras ouverte l'embrasse et le suspend à son cou A . à Poussin 1691 Anno Accordia ...', within a floral border and ebonised and parcel-gilt frame, the other depicting Frère Luce within a floral border

Condition

These charming paintings on glass are in fair condition, one with painted panel and garlands in very good condition, the mirror with minor losses to edges; the other with losses to the mirrored surface.
