Description

  • polychrome silk embroidery, woven satin
  • approximately 256cm. high, 276cm. wide; 8ft. 4in., 9ft.
comprised of four joined silk satin panels, worked in polychrome silk with a central roundel surrounded by scattered single flowering stems, and a four-sided border with scrolling foliage and flowers, all against an ivory coloured silk ground

Condition

The colour in the catalogue is a bit startling in hue, and reality the colours are less strident and the ground is creamier. The panel, comprising of four joined strips, is not lined. In overall very good condition. Even slight fading overall. Some minor speckles of dirt in one corner. Small dark stain on reverse. In very good condition overall. The embroidery is very finely worked and this is a very decorative lot.
