Condition

The sheet appears sound. Around the white flowers in the centre of the work the surface of the sheet is slightly uneven in places, thought to be inkeeping with the artist's technique, and with several very small specks of associated studio detritus, visible upon close inspection. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in excellent overall condition, with strong and vivid colours throughout. The work is presented in a dark wooden frame, float mounted against a cream backing card and held behind glass. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.

Catalogue Note

'Now and again he will sniff the breeze for the faintest whiff of his favourite enemy cats - the black and no tail, the detested long-haired ginger-and-white - who are nicely tough and brave in just the way the best sort of enemy cat must be.' (Susannah Amoore, Motley the Cat, Penguin, London, 1997, unpaginated)
