Original canvas. There is a nail hole at the extreme upper edge. There is a slight push to the left sky scraper and a further slight push to the lower left quadrant. There are areas of horizontal creasing with associated craquelure in places, most apparent in the lower third of the work. There are further scattered areas of craquelure to the work, most apparent to the upper edge, an area of the pale blue pigment on the left edge and along the right edge. There are some spots of loss to the edge of the table at the right edge. There is general light surface dirt to the work. Subject to the above the work appears to be in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light shows some areas of fluorescence, which are thought to be in keeping with the artist's materials. The work is presented in a wooden frame. In 1981, Julian and Mary travelled to the USA to see a show of Julian's prints at the Touchstone Gallery in Washington. The present work and lots 558 and 559 are a product of this trip, painted back in London at Durham Wharf from sketchbooks of reflections he compiled during his visit.
