Original canvas. The canvas undulates slightly in places, but otherwise appears sound. There is some rubbing and minor frame abrasion apparent around the edges of the work in places. There is a small pressure mark near the centre of the lower horizontal edge, with some associated loss. There is a scuff near the centre of the upper horizontal edge, with a small fleck of associated loss. There is a faint stretcher mark apparent along the upper horizontal edge. There is some light surface dirt in places and some spots of mould, most apparent to the areas of dark blue pigment. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is presented in a simple wooden frame.
