Condition

The sheet appears to be laid down onto paper around the edges. The sheet undulates very slightly, but otherwise appears sound. The right edge of the sheet is slightly uneven, which is thought to be in keeping with the artist's materials, and there is a very tiny crease at the upper right corner. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in excellent overall condition. The work is float mounted and presented in a simple wooden frame, held under glass. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.

Catalogue Note

'Instead of drawing, I would wander casually past a group of people half a dozen times or so, pretending to be unaware of them. Sometimes I climbed a staircase so that I could write down a note of the back of an envelope without being seen. A note like 'two people sleeping under one blanket' would be enough of a reminder to enable me to make a sketch next day.' (Henry Moore, 'Introduction', Shelter Sketchbook, Marlborough, London, 1967)
