Catalogue Note

Li Tingting was the recipient of the 2007 Gold Award from the Today Art Museum in Beijing for her first Still Life series exhibition. The award signifies an important turning point that encouraged Li to actively pursue her artistic career. This set of twelve panels is the artist's largest series to date and represents her early explorations of humble subject matter with an ambitious approach. In her fluid wet and dry brushstrokes, she demonstrates a studious mastery of control of the ink medium. The cheerful pink palette and lyrical composition provide a youthful vitality, while offering an oblique commentary on today's consumer society.
