Condition
The canvas has not been lined, and has been secured onto a more recent stretcher. Ultra-violet light reveals notably a band of retouching along the lower edge (leaving the signature virtually intact however), an area in the lower right corner, and some scattered strokes in the figure in red-brown cloak and sky. The work is in good overall condition, and its appearance could likely benefit from a light surface clean if desired.Presented in a decorative, Florentine-style gilt frame. The colours in the catalogue illustration are reasonably accurate, however some elements such as the jetty have a less orange cast in reality.
