à décor de godrons, les becs en têtes de cygnes, les anses en bois aux attaches en masques barbus et rosettes, la prise du couvercle de la théière en cygne, chaque pièce gravée au-dessous de son poids, comprenant une cafetière, une théière, un pot à lait et un sucrier couvert, les anses du sucrier en têtes de lion tenant dans leur gueule un anneau mobile

La cafetière est illustrée dans l'ouvrage de Wim Nys, Joseph Germain Dutalis, 1780-1852, 2004, p. 45 et le crémier dans celui de Walter van Dievoet, Dictionnaire des orfèvres de Bruxelles au XIXe siècle, p. 182.

Condition

In overall good condition - good weight - the coffee pot and cream jug bases and handles slightly wobbling. Marks: on teapot, maker, assay master, crossed garlands mark under the base, hand mark on foot rim, under cover, hand mark on coffee pot, assay master under the base, maker and hand marks on footrim, on neck crossed garlands mark, on cream jug, assay master under the base, maker and hand mark on footrim, crossed garlands mark on neck on sugar bowl, assay master under the base, maker and footmark on footrim, crossed garlands mark on neck, assay master under cover, hand mark on cover rim. Very attractive set, very fine quality of chasing, especially on swan and lion heads.

Joseph Germain Dutalis (1780-1852) est le plus grand orfèvre belge du début du XIXe siècle. Actif à Bruxelles, il fut orfèvre du roi Guillaume I des Pays-Bas.
