Catalogue Note
Henri Duponchel, né en 1794, prit d'abord des cours de peintuire avec Eugène Delacroix. Il suivit ensuite des cours d'achitecture, mena en parallèle une brillante carrière d'homme de théâtre pendant plus de trente ans. Il construisit l'hôtel du baron James de Rothschild rue Laffitte et en dessina les meubles et les bronzes. Il devint ensuite orfèvre et, après une association avec Jean-Valentin Morel, il s'en sépara en 1849.
