Condition

Both panels are uncut and un-cradled and appear stable. Both panels have recently been cleaned and restored and are in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals scattered local repairs and retouchings to both paintings, almost entirely of a local and minor nature. The largest area of repair is to the centre of the sky, just above the hills in the first painting and to the sail of the foremost sailing boat and touching out of cracks along the river bank in the same picture and to the branches of the left hand trees and some of the foreground figures in its companion. The varnish is clear and even but some of the restoration is lightly discoloured. Both panels are offered in stained and ebonised wood frame with gilt sight edges in very good condition
