Condition
The painting is constructed of two horizontal oak panels, which are uncradled, flat and stable. The paint surface is relatively clean and the varnish is clear and even. There is a horizontal line of discoloured retouching along the panel join, and there is slightly discoloured, though sensitively-rendered, spot retouching throughout the plain background, particularly upper right, and around the top of the beaker, left (visible in the catalogue illustration). Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals these aforementioned retouchings and a handful of small restorations in the pewter dish holding strawberries. In overall good condition.
Offered in a wood Dutch-style frame with wave decoration.
