Catalogue Note
Hans Wetzlar possessed a Jan Fyt of farmyard fowl on a canvas support of almost identical size (118 by 150 cm.; see Collection Dr. H. Wetzlar, exhibition catalogue, Amsterdam 1952, p. 12, no. 32, reproduced plate 32). Although they do not share an earlier provenance, he may have intended them as pendants.
