Condition

The canvas has a rather firm relining, the paint surface is relatively clean and the varnish is rather discoloured. The canvas is slightly raised in two small areas in the upper right corner and just right of centre, perhaps where the canvas has separated slightly from the lining. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a rather opaque varnish, beneath which tiny scattered spot retouchings are visible in the roof of the building and in the dark doorway, left, and in the bell tower. Much of the cloudy area in the sky also appears to have been strengthened with wash. In overall good condition.
